Third-Party Inspectors
The Texas Residential Construction Commission is committed to upholding high quality standards for a fast-growing building industry. The commission contracts with neutral, third-party inspectors to review alleged post-construction defects. These neutral, third-party inspectors provide an unbiased, professional opinion about alleged defects and, if necessary, offer recommendations for repair.
These inspections aid in settling disputes between a homeowner and builder. The third-party inspectors will demonstrate integrity, honesty, and fairness in a professional and competent manner.
For structural matters, the commission uses only experienced engineers and architects. For non-structural matters, the commission uses only inspectors certified by the International Code Council as residential combination inspectors. The statute and rules provide the minimum qualifications each inspector must meet.
