What do I do if my home is not registered?
It is possible that the builder or remodeler did not have to register your project. For example, before January 1, 2004, builders and remodelers did not have to register projects at all. Since January 1, 2004, law has required that builders and remodelers register the following kinds of projects:
-
New Home Construction
-
Material Improvements (a renovation changing the size of a home’s living space)
-
Interior Renovations (before September 1, 2007, an interior remodeling project costing more than $20,000. After September 1, 2007, an interior remodeling project costing more than $10,000 – this does not include repairs or replacements of finishes in your home)
Commercial projects, pools, foundation repair, roof repair, the building of separate structures (like pool houses), or work performed by someone licensed to do that specific work (like electrical work performed by a licensed electrician) are all exempted from registration.
If you would like to find out if your project should have been registered, and if it was not file a complaint with the commission, call us toll-free at 877-651-TRCC.
