Proposed Warranties and Standards Changes
The Commission has appointed an advisory committee to review and make recommendations to the commission on proposed changes to the limited warranties and performance standards. For information about that committee you can review Commission Rule 301.3.
The Standards Advisory Committee meets at least twice a year. Meeting dates are posted on the commission website and in the Texas Register approximately sixty days prior to the meeting so that comments can be received in accordance with the commission’s rule. According to Commission Rule 301.2(k) any interested person may submit suggested changes to the performance standards to the committee. A suggested change to the performance standards must be received by the committee no later than thirty days before the committee's next public meeting, which allows committee members sufficient time to review the suggested changes. A suggested change to the performance standards must be in writing and include a brief explanation of the performance standard, the reason the new or amended performance standard should be adopted or repealed, and the complete text for the suggested change. All proposed text to amend a performance standard shall be indicated by striking through the words, if any, to be deleted from the current performance standard and by underlining the words, if any, to be added to the current performance standard. The submission to the committee of a suggested change to the performance standards shall not be considered a petition for rulemaking under §301.2 of the commission rules.
